vanilla orange zest granola

Homemade vanilla orange zest granola! The taste and smell of baking granola is infinitely better than literally anything store bought. Plus I love being able to modify ingredients based on what I’m feeling like eating for the week (and bonus: you know exactly what’s going into your granola!)

Try this recipe and eat it on its own, add to greek yogurt with fruit, sprinkle on top of smoothies for some crunch, or eat in a bowl with milk!


2 cups rolled oats

3/4 cup chopped pecans

1/4 cup sunflower seeds

2 tbsp unsweetened coconut flakes

2 tbsp hemp seeds

2 tbsp orange zest

1/3 cup coconut oil

1/4 cup maple syrup

1/4 cup dried apricot, chopped

2 tbsp chopped figs

1 pinch sea salt

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 tsp cinnamon


1. preheat oven to 350F

2. add all ingredients to a medium sized mixing bowl and mix

3. plate on a large sheet pan with parchment paper and press down into a thin even layer with a fork

4. bake in the oven for 20-25 mins

take out and let cool on the parchment paper

5. crumble up the granola into desired sized pieces and place into a container to eat throughout the week!
